The 6th edition of the « children without cancer » race will take place on September 24th 2017 in the Parc de Saint-Cloud. The whole team at Imagine for Margo is preparing an unforgettable day, full of emotion and hope.
As every year, all donations collected from the race « children without cancer » will be entirely given for research and will help to finance two innovating programs on precision medicine to treat tumors on children and teenagers :
• MAPPYACTS, a transversal program for children for whom the treatment against any kind of cancer or leukemia has failed. The idea is to perform a biopsy when the patient relapses and to make sequencing on the whole tumor genes to find the abnormalities that could be targeted by innovative treatments.
Thanks to the donations collected by the race « children without cancer », hundred additional patients will benefit from a complete sequencing of their tumor in order to identify a possible targeted treatment or an immunotherapy.
• BIOMEDE, the first and only European trial offering an innovative treatment, given as from the diagnosis, to children with brain stem tumor (DIPG : Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma). 104 children have participated to BIOMEDE in France, Denmark and Sweden. There are currently 3 trial arms with three targeted therapies : everolimus, dasatinib, erlotinib. BIOMEDE will be opened in the weeks to come to Great Britain and Spain, as well as to Belgium, Finland, Ireland, Netherlands and Italy within the end of 2017. And even to Australia.
This shows the major interest of medical teams for BIOMEDE, the only innovative therapeutic offer to this disease with a so poor prognosis. The first results of efficiency of the 3 trial arms will be known beginning of 2018.
Further to those results and thanks to the results of the analysis done from the sequencing financed by Imagine for Margo, BIOMEDE will be extended as from 2018 and will become BIOMEDE 2.0.
