Today in eighth grade, Loris has had to face a battle that too many children experience. At the age of 4, he was diagnosed with embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma. This cancer took the form of an aggressive tumor located on the right side of his face. This diagnosis turned Loris’s and his family’s lives upside down, launching them into a difficult medical journey that also became an inspiring story of his strength.
Like Loris, thousands of children and teens each year see their lives upended by cancer. As the year closes, let’s support them and make “recovery” their future.
A Challenging Diagnosis and Intense Cancer Treatment Journey
It all began when Loris returned home from daycare with a red eye. After a series of exams, an MRI revealed the presence of a tumor. The first surgery managed to remove part of the tumor, but the battle was far from over. This was followed by months of chemotherapy at the Institut Curie and radiotherapy. Although life-saving, these intensive treatments had side effects. Loris now lives with facial asymmetry, growth delays, and complications affecting his thyroid.
Despite this, he keeps smiling and continues his fight, attending the hospital regularly for checkups and further care.
Resilience Through Sports and Support
One passion that has helped Loris stay strong is archery. This discipline allows him to focus and channel his energy. Competing brings him great satisfaction—not only because he loves the competitive aspect, but also because it helps him manage stress. This skill has been invaluable as he faces many challenges, both in his school life and medical journey.
Loris is also grateful for the unwavering support he’s received. His family, friends, doctors, and caregivers surrounded him with positive energy that gave him the strength to keep fighting.
A Commitment with Imagine for Margo
Since 2016, Loris has taken part in solidarity races organized by our association. For him, these races are more than just sports events; they’re a chance to feel supported and to fight alongside other children and families going through similar struggles. Each year, these moments stay etched in his memory as unforgettable times.
Loris also underscores the importance of research and solidarity. He strongly encourages everyone to support the association’s efforts by participating in various events organized to accelerate the fight against this scourge. “Go Fight Win!” is his mantra, signifying that everyone must push forward, fight, and win against illness.
Supporting Childhood Cancer Research
Loris’s story highlights the harsh reality of childhood cancer and the hope brought by medical research. He reminds us of the crucial need to donate to fund projects that could one day enable faster and less risky cures for young patients.
Thanks to the dedication and generosity of Imagine for Margo’s donors, progress is being made every day in the fight against childhood cancer.
But there is still a long way to go. Every contribution, every gesture counts to give these children the chance to live a calmer future.
