A year ago, Vlada, our big-hearted volunteer, was alongside the first Ukrainian families arriving in France.
From the start of the crisis, all the members of the Gravir collective, of which Imagine for Margo is a member, began discussions with the government and the doctors of the SFCE, in coordination with the European associations of CCI Europe as well as with UNAPECLE, in order to react as quickly as possible. The objective: to welcome families and allow many Ukrainian children to continue their fight against the disease.
Patricia Blanc, Founding President of Imagine for Margo: “Cancer is a disease of incredible violence which requires, from children and their parents, a total fight. When we learned of the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, the various French and European associations quickly organized themselves to help these little warriors. We have worked, all together, tirelessly to allow many families to come and continue their care in the SFCE centres. »
After many days of discussion and coordination at European level, the first families arrived at Charles-de-Gaule airport and were taken care of by the French services and by Vlada, our Ukrainian volunteer.
In order to help sick children, we have therefore called on our generous donors and our big-hearted partners and we especially thank Antoine Moreau and Nicolas Brumelot. In total, more than €40,000 was collected to support families.
Thanks to this significant sum, we were able to help families as soon as they arrived in France and meet their needs; vouchers for clothes, for food purchases, transport tickets, housing… more than 40 families have benefited from this aid to enable them to resume their fight against the disease in the best conditions.
At their side, our incredible volunteer Vlada was strongly called upon to coordinate the Ukrainian volunteers and translators who welcomed the families, and made the link with the doctors of the SFCE and the local associations in the host cities of the 18 centers of the SFCE which received the children and adolescents.
THANK YOU to all the people who supported this operation: associations, volunteers, Virginie Gandemer, President of the SFCE, as well as Professor Jean-Hugues Dalle of the Robert Debré hospital and Dr Pablo Berlanga Charriel of the Gustave Roussy hospital who tirelessly work for a year to coordinate this operation.
Together, let’s continue to mobilize for a world with children without cancer.
