THE FRENCH REPUBLICAN GUARD OPENS ITS DOORS TO CHILDREN WITH CANCER

Garde républicaine Imagine for Margo

Cancer remains, today, the leading cause of death by disease in children over the age of one, in France and in Europe. Indeed, each year, 2,500 children in France and 35,000 in Europe are diagnosed with cancer. For 20% of them, the only hope remains progress in research. It is for this reason that every year, on February 15, International Childhood Cancer Day takes place, a day of awareness and mobilization to support all the little warriors who are affected by this scourge.

Committed to the association since April 2022, the French Republican Guard carries out numerous actions throughout the year in favor of children with the disease. Concerts, equestrian shows, demonstrations, visits to hospitals or the organization of events during the actions of the French Gendarmerie (Tour de France 2022, etc.), the association’s big-hearted godmother offers many smiles to sick children and uses its image in order to raise awareness and mobilize around this fight for life.

On this International Childhood Cancer Day, the French Republican Guard opened its doors to a few children who are fighting against cancer. For an afternoon, the little warriors present were able to live an extraordinary experience. Classic car rides, horse show, concert by the French Republican Guard quintet… brought many smiles to the faces of the children. This event was organized with the Rallye du Cœur partner of our association.

AN EVENT FULL OF SMILE THANKS TO THE FRENCH REPUBLICAN GUARD AND THE RALLYE DU CŒUR

The afternoon began with a ride in exceptional cars loaned by the Rallye du Coeur. In total, nearly 20 vehicles transported the children in Paris before arriving in the Célestins district, where they were welcomed with the families for the continuation of the activities.

Young and old were then invited to meet in the French Republican Guard riding school to attend an equestrian demonstration of the formation of the recovery of the twelve of the cavalry regiment.

To close this solidarity day, a musical note awaited the children. Indeed, the music quintet of the French Republican Guard offered a cover of melodies well known to children: themes from Disney animated films. Delighted and amazed, the young visitors then had the right to a small snack and were offered gifts, in memory of this solidarity day. It was after these few hours full of emotion and surprises that everyone left, with beautiful memories in mind and stars in their eyes.
